Atomic Beat Records – 7″ label from London. Invokes Sarah Records with their sweet inserts. Have released music by Pocketbooks, Pete Green and the Garlands!

Cloudberry Records – Essential 3″ CDR and 7″ vinyl label from Florida, USA. Releases by countless amazing indiepop bands. They put out the debut EP by the now world-famous Pains Of Being Pure At Heart.

Creation Records – Although it’s now mostly remembered for Oasis and britpop, Creation were undoubtedly at the front of the ’80s indiepop revolution with releases from the likes of the Pastels, Razorcuts and Felt.

Fortuna POP! – A long established staple of the UK indiepop scene that’s sometimes taken for granted. They’ve been on a real roll these last few years with wonderful releases by Tender Trap, Allo Darlin’ and the Pains Of Being Pure At Heart.

Happy Happy Birthday To Me Records – Straight outta Athens, GA, Happy Happy Birthday To Me have put out some essential indiepop in recent years such as the Smittens and Eux Autres.

K – Calvin Johnson and K have been “exploding the teenage underground into passionate revolt against the corporate ogre” since 1982. I don’t love everything they put out but I probably have more records on K in my collection than any other label.

Make Do And Mend Records – Founded by members of the lovely Pocketbooks in 2008 to release their Waking Up EP, Make Do And Mend are behind the Indietracks festival compilation albums.

Odd Box Records – Founded in London in 2009, Odd Box have since been releasing a steady stream of records from the likes of the Smittens and the Give It Ups on many formats including one on the long forgotten cassingle (that’s a cassette single, kids).

Sarah Records – No introduction required. Probably the greatest label there ever was, and surely the only one to ever release a board game. 1987 – 1995.

Slumberland Records – One of the most legendary indiepop labels that’s still in operation. Run by former Black Tambourine drummer Mike Schulman, Slumberland releases usually lean towards the noisier end of the indiepop spectrum. Artists include the aforementioned Black Tambourine, The Aislers Set and Rocketship.

The Subway Organization – A favourite of the mid-’80s UK indiepop scene, the Subway Organization released lots of my favourites of the era including the Chesterf!elds, Razorcuts and Shop Assistants.

WeePOP! Records – 3″ CDRs and 7″ vinyl in beautiful handmade packaging. Based in the UK. Artists include the Just Joans, Colin Clary and Allo Darlin’.
